Mahta Shokouhbakhsh, M. A., CCC-SLP grew up in the Bay Area and received her Bachelor’s degree in Communicative Disorders & Sciences and her Master’s Degree in Speech & Language Pathology from San Jose State University. She studied abroad in Aix-en-Provence, France where she studied the French culture, language, and history.
Mahta has been working as a Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist since 2014. She is an American Speech-Language-Hearing Association member and is licensed in the state of California. She was a recipient of the ACE award in 2021, 2020, and 2019.
Mahta has experience working with children from 18-months to 16-years old in the home and clinic setting. She has assessed, diagnosed, and treated a variety of communication disorders while providing tailored treatment plans and parent education.
Mahta has several years of experience supervising and mentoring Speech-Language Pathology Assistants, Speech-Language Pathologists completing their clinical fellowship, and students completing their Graduate School externship. She is trained in Hanen – More than Words, Hanen – Talkability, Picture Exchange Communication System, DIR Floortime, PROMPT, Social Thinking, and Orofacial Myology.
Mahta provided ABA therapy in a preschool and elementary school for several years before beginning her journey to becoming a Speech-Language Pathologist. Her experience in ABA provided her with skills in the use of positive reinforcement, replacement behaviors, and a token system if needed.
Mahta enjoys providing pediatric speech services because she believes that every child deserves to have their voice heard.
